Pikmin 3 Deluxe is officially coming to Nintendo Switch
October re-release to feature new prologue and epilogue stories
Nintendo has officially announced Pikmin 3 Deluxe for Nintendo Switch.
Originally released for Wii U in 2013, Pikmin 3 has players controlling one of three space captains, who in turn command a horde of up to 100 plant-like creatures and use their abilities to explore, combat enemies and solve puzzles.
Switch‘s Deluxe version will release on October 30 with new story content, co-op features and settings that make it “easy for newcomers to jump in,” Nintendo said.
Most significantly, Deluxe adds new prologue and epilogue story missions featuring protagonists Olimar and Louie, the ability to play in co-op on the same console, as well as head-to-head multiplayer matches in the form of Bingo Battle.
The game has also added the Piklopedia, which contains information on creatures players encounter during their adventures. In addition, players can collect in-game badges by meeting certain conditions.
In terms of settings, the Switch version adds new difficulty options, lock-on targeting, optional hints and the choice to play at “a more relaxed pace”. Deluxe also includes all the Mission mode DLC stages from the original game’s release.
Pikmin is the latest Wii U title to be ported to Switch, following Mario Kart 8, New Super Mario Bros. U, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, Bayonetta 2 and Hyrule Warriors.
As VGC revealed in March, Nintendo also plans to celebrate Super Mario Bros.’ 35th anniversary this year with several major releases, new and old, including a Deluxe Switch version of 2013’s Wii U game Super Mario 3D World.
