Phantom Blade Zero gets an 11-minute trailer, with a PlayStation State of Play coming next week too
It’s been revealed that martial arts legend Donnie Yen will star in the game
A new 11-minute trailer for Phantom Blade Zero has been released, showing more of the game in action.
As well as the trailer, Sony has announced that a new State of Play presentation solely focused on Phantom Blade Zero will take place next week.
The game – which is developed by Chinese studio S-Game – is set for release on PlayStation 5 and PC on October 29.
Before that, a State of Play will take place on Monday, August 17 at 7pm PT / 10pm ET / 3am BST (Aug 18) showing more of the game in action.
The announcement of the State of Play was accompanied by the 11-minute pre-order trailer, which reveals that martial arts film star Donnie Yen will appear in the game.
According to S-Game, Yen has been serving as the game’s creative consultant since 2023, “bringing his martial arts and action filmmaking expertise to our combat design to help deliver an authentic kung fu experience”.
Yen will also make an appearance in the game, where he will play Mo Yuan, the father of protagonist Soul.
The trailer shows Soul fighting enemies on top of a speeding wagon and taking on other human and non-human characters in fast-paced battles.
S-Game founder and CEO Soulframe Liang says the trailer is “only the beginning”, explaining: “The Phantom Blade Zero gameplay deep dive State of Play will introduce never-before-seen characters central to our story while showing just how expressive players can be with their individual builds. We’re looking forward to finally sharing more of what we’ve been working on.”
He added: “Today’s new extended trailer isn’t enough to cover our intricate gameplay systems, dynamic combat, and the dark wuxia land we call the Phantom World. That’s why our upcoming State of Play takes a much closer look at what you can expect from Phantom Blade Zero.”
