Persona 3 Portable could be the series’ next remaster

Insiders claims new version will be released as part of Persona’s 25th anniversary celebrations

Persona 3 Portable could be the series’ next remaster

Atlus’s classic RPG Persona 3 Portable could be set for a multiplatform remaster, according to an insider.

That’s according to blogger ‘Zippo’, who as Nintendo Life points out, previously revealed Persona 4 Arena Ultimax before its announcement. “Persona 3 Portable is getting a [multiplatform] remaster,” the user said.

Persona 3 Portable is a port of Persona 3, first released for the PlayStation Portable in 2009.

The portable release is an enhanced port of the original PS2 game, featuring various additions including the ability to play as a female protagonist and have more impact on the story’s conclusion.

Atlus is currently celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Persona series and claimed this summer that it has seven project reveals planned for the next year to celebrate the occasion.

The first of the seven reveals was announced at The Game Awards this week: 2D fighting game Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. The remaining unannounced projects – which may not all be games – are listed as question marks on the Persona 25th Anniversary website.

According to the site, the last project will be revealed in Autumn 2022. Dates aren’t given for the others.

Last year Sega singled out the PC version of Persona 4 Golden as one of the surprise successes of its Q1 financial results.

The Steam release was specifically highlighted as a key success by the publisher, with sales of the PC version said to be “significantly higher than expected.” The title – released for Steam in June – was previously only available on PS Vita.
