Bulletstorm maker working on unannounced AAA Square Enix project
Independent game developer People Can Fly has expanded with the opening of a fourth studio, which is based in New York.
Led by studio head David Grijns and executive producer Roland Lesterlin, People Can Fly New York currently has about 30 staff with previous experience at studios including Activision Blizzard, Ninja Theory and Eidos Montreal.
Its management team previously co-founded Avalanche Studios New York and Defiant Studios, in 2011 and 2016 respectively.
The Polish company, which was once owned by Epic Games, is perhaps best known as the creator of Bulletstorm and the co-developer of multiple Gears of War titles.
It’s currently working on an original project for publisher Square Enix. It’s unclear if the undisclosed game will be revealed during the publisher’s E3 conference on June 10, but today’s announcement mentioned that People Can Fly representatives will be attending next week’s show in LA.
People Can Fly CEO Sebastian Wojciechowski said: “With the opening of our New York studio, we will surpass 200 staff, which will help us accelerate the development of our AAA project with Square Enix.
“At the same time, PCF now has a strategic foothold in one of the greatest cities in the world by which to attract world-class talent.
“David and Roland have a fantastic track record in building and managing high-quality teams,” he added. “I look forward to working with them alongside our existing studios in the UK and Poland.”
