PDP debuts first look at new Rock Band / Fortnite Festival guitar controller

PDP has shown off the first images of its Riffmaster guitar controller.

The new controller, which was teased last month, will come in two configurations, one that will be compatible with PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles and one that will work with Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One.

According to IGN who received an exclusive hands-on with the peripheral, the guitar’s battery life is reportedly up to 36 hours on a single charge. The guitar can be folded away for easy storage.

The controller will be compatible with Rock Band 4 and, eventually, Fortnite Festival, the rhythm game mode recently introduced to the massively popular free-to-play game.

While developed by Harmonix and very similar to the Rock Band series, Fortnite Festival doesn’t currently support rhythm game controllers.

No price has been given for the Riffmaster.

The last piece of Rock Band 4 DLC was released last week.

“Many of you reading this own a good chunk of this content and we remain committed to protecting that investment – to be very clear, you can play the songs you own within Rock Band 4 for as long as you like,” said Harmonix veteran Daniel Sussman when confirming the end of the long-running weekly content.

“If you are a fan of the rhythm game category, Fortnite Festival is the place to be; and with support for RB4 instruments coming, this is not the time to hang up your guitars just yet,” Sussman said.

The last three songs were “Wherever You Will Go,” by The Calling, “Thank You,” by Dido, and “Send Me On My Way,” by Rusted Root.
