Payday 3‘s closed beta is coming to Steam and Xbox next week
The beta will feature one heist, set in a small bank
A closed beta for Payday 3 is coming to Xbox and Steam next week.
Deep Silver and Starbreeze has announced that between August 2 and August 7 players on those platforms will be able to test the game.
Players can sign up for the closed beta on the game’s website, on Steam, or on the Xbox Insider Hub App.
The beta will include the whole original Payday crew as playable characters, Dallas, Hoxton, Chains and Wolf. The beta is set to feature one heist, No Rest For The Wicked.
“No Rest For The Wicked, a classic heist, that gives players the opportunity relieve a small bank of the cash cluttering up their vault. Go stealthily without anyone noticing how the cash evaporated or go loud and create cinematic chaos in an NYC robbery that’s worthy of the silver screen,” reads a description from Starbreeze.
All difficulties will be playable, however, there will be a level cap of Infamy Level 22 and Weapon Level Progression is at 8.
Payday 3 is set for release on PC via PC Game Pass, on Steam and Epic Games Store, as well as Xbox Series S|X Game Pass, and PlayStation 5 on September 21.
Payday 3 will require an online connection to play the game, even in single-player.
Speaking on a recent livestream, Starbreeze’s global brand director Almir Listo confirmed that the game, which offers both multiplayer and single-player gameplay, will require an online connection regardless of which mode is chosen.
In our recent preview of Payday 3 we said: “We can foresee getting the perfect stealth heist on the game’s highest difficulty to be a Sisyphean challenge for some friend groups, but for others, it’s a whole new level of replayability for the game.
“Payday 3 seems like it has all of the ingredients necessary to pull off its lofty goal of emulating the classic heist films of Hollywood, but the question remains whether its new stealth systems will be fully embraced by a player base that has gotten so used to the ‘shoot first, ask questions later’ action of the previous games.”
