Paper Mario Switch’s new trailer confirms the return of companions
Origami King is set for release next month
Nintendo has released a new overview trailer for Paper Mario: The Origami King, confirming that the game will see the return of companion characters.
According to Nintendo, the Switch RPG’s cast includes “a Bob-omb who’s lost his memory, the Toad professor of ancient history and Kamek, the Magikoopa who’s always got something up his sleeve.”
Mario will find assistance along the way from friends like Olivia, “the good-natured sister of King Olly,” and even arch-villain Bowser.
Friday’s video also demonstrates Origami King’s ring-based battles, which Nintendo says require “strategy and quick thinking to line up enemies and execute well-timed attacks to maximise damage.”
Paper Mario: The Origami King will release for Nintendo Switch on July 17.
The game will feature “a detail-rich world” to explore, “off-the-wall” mini-game events and “countless mysteries” to be solved, according to Nintendo.
Origami King has been created by mainstay series developer Intelligent Systems and sees Mario and friends embark on a quest to stop an evil king.
The RPG features a new ability called 1000-Fold Arms which allows players to interact with the landscape by stretching out and pulling, peeling and revealing new locations, helping them solve puzzles and uncover secrets.
