First Paper Mario Origami King review published in Famitsu
Nintendo Switch title receives first review score
The first Paper Mario: The Origami King review has been published in Japanese publication Famitsu.
The magazine’s four reviewers each gave the Nintendo Switch RPG a score of 9/10, according to Ryokutya2089 (via Gematsu), for a total score of 36/40.
The review score is in line with what Famitsu has previously awarded Paper Mario series entries. Famitsu rated Wii U’s Color Splash 35/40, 3DS’s Sticker Star 36/40 and Super Paper Mario 35/40.
Paper Mario: The Origami King has a Nintendo Switch release date of July 17.
Origami King has been created by mainstay series developer Intelligent Systems and sees Mario and friends embark on a quest to stop an evil king.
The RPG features a new ability called 1000-Fold Arms which allows players to interact with the landscape by stretching out and pulling, peeling and revealing new locations, helping them solve puzzles and uncover secrets.
Origami King also introduces a new “ring-based” battle system, which Nintendo says will allow players to “flex their puzzle-solving skills to line up scattered enemies and maximise damage.”
The game will feature “a detail-rich world” to explore, “off-the-wall” mini-game events and “countless mysteries” to be solved, according to Nintendo.
