Overwatch is coming to Nintendo Switch
Blizzard confirms October release for Nintendo port
Class-based shooter Overwatch is coming to Nintendo Switch, Blizzard announced on Wednesday.
The 2016 title, which Blizzard claims has amassed more than 40 million players as of May 2018, will release for the Nintendo platform on October 15, 2019.
Blizzard president J. Allen Brack had previously hinted that Blizzard could release more games for Nintendo Switch, following 2018’s successful port of Diablo 3.
Diablo 3 released for Switch in November 2018 with strong support from Nintendo, including a special hardware bundle and a Diablo amiibo figure.
“Nintendo’s been a great partner,” Brack told Venturebeat in May. “We’re a fan of that platform, a fan of Nintendo, a fan of the Nintendo IP, a fan of the Switch. It’s a really good platform and it’s really fun to play on.
Blizzard is currently undergoing a “renewed focus” on game development. Although it officially has no original titles planned for release in 2019, it claims to have more projects in development than at any point in its history.
