Over 1200 Fortnite skins now have free LEGO versions
More skins will get a Lego version in the future
Ahead of the launch of Lego Fortnite, Epic Games has announced that over 1200 in-game costumes have received free Lego variations.
These costumes will be usable in the upcoming Lego Fortnite mode, which will launch on December 7.
While not every skin in Fortnite will receive this treatment, likely due to licensing issues with the hundreds of officially licensed characters in the game, every original Epic-made skin for the game will receive one.
Epic has claimed that more Lego Fortnite skins will be released “regularly,” so it’s possible that some licensed characters will receive the Lego treatment.
Several licensed properties in the game, such as Marvel, already have Lego figures and Lego video games. The Lego video games were developed by TT Games, the exclusive console rights holder to the Lego license for over a decade.
While TT no longer holds the exclusive rights to make Lego console games, as seen with 2023’s Lego 2K Drive, there may be licensing issues regarding video game adaptations of specific Lego properties.
Lego has also traditionally strayed from working with adult properties, so it’s unlikely that characters like the Xenomorph from the Alien franchise, or Robocop get a Lego version.
