Ori developer Moon Studios’ next game is an action RPG
Job ad describes RPG project which “dares to innovate”
Moon Studios, the developer behind acclaimed Xbox Metroidvania series Ori and the Blind Forest, is working on an action RPG.
The Austrian studio is currently advertising for a game designer position for a project which it claims will “go far beyond what the [ARPG] genre has offered players thus far.”
The job ad reads: “After redefining the Metroidvania genre with the Ori series, our next goal is to revolutionize the ARPG genre.”
The job add specifically calls for experience playing titles such as Diablo, Zelda and Dark Souls and claims that the opportunity offers the chance “to work on an RPG that dares to innovate and go far beyond what the genre has offered players thus far.”
Moon was formed in 2010 by Thomas Mahler (former Cinematic Artist at Blizzard Entertainment) and Gennadiy Korol (former Senior Graphics Engineer at Animation Lab).
The company’s first title, Ori and the Blind Forest, released exclusively for Xbox One in 2015 and won a number of awards including a BAFTA for artistic direction.
Ori and the Blind Forest was later released for PC and Nintendo Switch.
A sequel, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, will release for Xbox One in March 2020.
