One of PlayStation’s biggest first-party games is getting an anime adaptation

Ghost of Tsushima Legends is receiving an anime adaption.

Announced at CES, the adaptation will be a co-production between Aniplex and Crunchyroll.

Takanobu Mizuno (Star Wars: Visions “The Duel”) will direct the series at Kamikaze Douga, with Gen Urobuchi writing the story composition. The anime will be produced in collaboration with Aniplex, with Sony Music serving as music and soundtrack partner.

The series will debut in 2027.

Ghost of Tsushima Legends was a DLC expansion that allowed players to team up with friends to take on co-op missions, something missing from the base game.

A sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yotei, was announced last year.

Ghost of Yotei is planned for release in 2025.

In an article on the PlayStation Blog, Sucker Punch communications manager Andrew Goldfarb said the game provided “a new protagonist, a new story to unfold, and a new region of Japan to explore”.

“While we aren’t diving into story specifics yet today, we can reveal that Atsu’s journey takes place in 1603, more than 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima,” he wrote.

“Our story is set in the lands surrounding Mount Yōtei, a towering peak in the heart of Ezo, an area of Japan known as Hokkaido in the present day.

A Ghost of Tsushima movie is currently in the works, and will be directed by Chad Stahelski (John Wick: Chapter 4).
