Old Battlefield games are being taken over by a ‘2042’ promo
EA’s marketing push for the new game steps up a level ahead of this week’s reveal
Electronic Arts has launched several new teasers for the next Battlefield game, which is claimed to be 2042.
A reveal trailer for the game will be viewable via the YouTube video embedded at the top of this page on June 9 at 7am PT / 10am ET / 3pm BST.
An update on the game’s official Twitter account posted on Monday and linking to the upcoming YouTube trailer said systems were offline and in the process of rebooting, with a progress count at 10 percent.

The same video tease can also be found when booting up recent series entries including Battlefields 5, 1 and 4.
It has been suggested that the new Battlefield game will be available via Xbox Game Pass at launch. While unconfirmed, the Xbox Twitter account was quick to respond to EA’s tease on Monday—not for the first time—with the progress count having moved up another 10 percent.
EA’s marketing push for the game, which kicked off last week with a cryptic message to various influencers, also extends to the news page for Battlefield 5 on consoles, as spotted by journalist Jeff Gerstmann.
A low-quality version of what is claimed to be a Battlefield 6 trailer leaked last month, followed by a selection of low-quality Battlefield 6 screenshots last week.
It was subsequently claimed that the game will be called ‘Battlefield 2042’ and that EA will this week confirm plans for an open beta set to take place later this month.
The 2042 setting would position the new game exactly 100 years after the original Battlefield game (1942) and 100 years before 2006 instalment 2142.
The game is said to focus on the “next world war”. USA versus Russia is at the heart of the global conflict and players reportedly assume the role of “an elite unit hired by these superpowers”.
It’s officially planned for a cross-gen release for consoles and PC this holiday season.
Battlefield 4 is currently available as a free download to Amazon Prime customers as part of its Prime Gaming subscription.
