Octopath Traveler has been rated for PlayStation consoles
Update: The original series entry has been released for Sony platforms
Octopath Traveler has been rated for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
As spotted by Gematsu, Taiwan’s Digital Game Rating Committee recently classified the game for Sony’s consoles, suggesting an official announcement could be imminent.
Octopath Traveler was released in 2018 and has sold over three million copies across Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox One and Stadia, according to publisher Square Enix.
Update
Square Enix has released Octopath Traveler for PS4 and PS5, and Octopath Traveler 2 for Xbox consoles and Windows PC. Both titles are also available for Game Pass on Xbox and PC.
It released Octopath Traveler 2 in February 2023 for Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC via Steam.
The PlayStation versions of Octopath Traveler were classified in Taiwan alongside the Xbox Series X/S version of Octopath Traveler 2, suggesting several announcements are being lined up.
Coinciding with Microsoft’s Tokyo Game Show broadcast last September, Square Enix revealed plans to bring its RPG sequel to Xbox consoles and Windows PC in “early 2024”, but this has yet to happen.
eXputer reported this week that Octopath Traveler 2 will be made available on Game Pass this month.
The original Octopath Traveler could also be added to Microsoft’s subscription service, it claimed.
If Square Enix is preparing Octopath Traveler announcements, they could arrive during this Friday’s Summer Game Fest showcase, or at Sunday’s Xbox Games Showcase.
