Nvidia has announced its new line of graphics cards at CES, including its most powerful RTX 5090.

In a presentation live from Las Vegas, the newest lineup of graphics cards was shown off to the public for the first time. The new cards are the RTX 5090 which will launch on January 30 for $1999, the RTX 5080 at $999 also in January and the RTX 5070 Ti for $750, and finally the RTX 5070 for $549.

The RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 cards will be released in February.

During its presentation, Nvidia claimed that the RTX 5070 could deliver the same power as Nvidia’s strongest current card, the RTX 4090, for a fraction of the price.

“The GeForce RTX 5090 GPU — the fastest GeForce RTX GPU to date — features 92 billion transistors, providing over 3,352 trillion AI operations per second (TOPS) of computing power,” according to Nvidia.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang revealed that at the highest end, the new cards could offer twice the graphical might in certain circumstances that the current highest-end graphics cards.

A video shown off during the presentation shows Cyberpunk 2077 running at over 200 FPS at max settings on the new 5090 card. The 4090 can achieve around 100 FPS at the same settings.

“Blackwell, the engine of AI, has arrived for PC gamers, developers and creatives,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA. “Fusing AI-driven neural rendering and ray tracing, Blackwell is the most significant computer graphics innovation since we introduced programmable shading 25 years ago.”

The RTX 50 series will also come to laptops. Starting in March, the RTX 5090 laptop GPU will be released with 24GB of GDDR7 memory.

Alongside it, the RTX 5080 laptop GPU with 16GB of GDDR7 memory, and the RTX 5070 Ti with 12GB of GDDR7 memory will debut. Further details on the ultra-fast laptops will be announced closer to the March launch.

The cards will introduce Nvidia DLSS 4, an evolution of the company’s frame-generation tech. Multi Frame Generation boosts frame rates by using AI to generate up to three frames per rendered frame.

“It works in unison with the suite of DLSS technologies to increase performance by up to 8x over traditional rendering, while maintaining responsiveness with NVIDIA Reflex technology,” says the firm.
