Now F1 2021 has removed PS5’s 3D audio
Codemasters previously disabled ray-tracing from the PS5 version of the game
Codemasters has temporarily disabled 3D audio for headphones from the PlayStation 5 version of F1 2021.
As noted by PushSquare, in the patch notes for the game’s 1.06 update the developer states that the feature has been turned off due to an unspecified technical issue. “This will be re-enabled as soon as audio issues relating to it have been resolved,” it says.
Sony added the ability to use PS5‘s 3D audio via speakers in a beta update late last month (the feature had previously only worked with headphones since launch).
The update marks the second time Codemasters has had to disable a feature in the PS5 version of F1 2021 due to technical issues. Last month the developer temporarily disabled ray-tracing in the PS5 version of the game, citing performance issues.
At the time, the game’s development team said it had “taken the difficult decision to temporarily disable” the lighting feature to add stability to the game. It was eventually turned back on with the arrival of the 1.05 update last week.
The Xbox Series X and PC versions of the game continued to have ray tracing enabled, because the issue only appeared on the PS5 version.
Elsewhere in the 1.06 update, Codemasters has addressed issues with Thurstmaster wheels and made balancing changing to game chapters, plus stability improvements.
