Nintendo showed off plenty of new No More Heroes 3 gameplay during its Treehouse live stream on Tuesday.

The company showcased the game’s enhanced battle system, various wardrobe customisation options for protagonist Travis Touchdown, and a mini-game involving his cat Jeane.

The gameplay also included a boss battle against Gold Joe, the No.9 in the Galactic Superhero Rankings, which Travis is bidding to ascend.

“This time around Travis Touchdown isn’t fighting against your everyday assassins, but it will be him vs aliens,” director Goichi Suda said in a message following the gameplay showcase, which you can watch in the video below. “Travis will be taking on some pretty mean aliens that appear from above all on his own.”

No More Heroes 3 was announced at E3 2019, when Nintendo said: “Travis Touchdown returns to Santa Destroy after a 10-year absence. There he finds a huge artificial island metropolis floating in the sea, and a mysterious flying object hovering high above.”

Developed by Grasshopper Manufacture, No More Heroes 3 was initially planned for release in 2020 but was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

No More Heroes 3 will now be released for Nintendo Switch on August 27, 2021.

No More Heroes and No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, which originally released for Nintendo Wii in 2008 and 2010 respectively, were made available for Switch in October 2020.

The remastered titles feature several enhancements including HD textures, improved system font and additional language support.
