Nintendo’s new Kirby game has had a surprise release on Switch
Kirby Fighters 2 is available now on the eShop
Nintendo has made a new Kirby game available on the Switch digital store in a surprise release.
Kirby Fighters 2, the follow-up to 2014’s Nintendo 3DS fighting game, is available on the Nintendo eShop now for $20 following its leak on the Nintendo website this week.
The game has players choosing from a cast of Kirby’s copy abilities, before battling to become the last Kirby standing. Series foes like Bandana Waddle Dee and King Dedede also appear as playable characters for the first time.
The game features a Story Mode in which players work with a partner (player or AI-controlled) to scale a tower of matches, as well as four-player multiplayer locally, on a single Switch system, or online.
There are more than 15 classic and original stages in the game and players earn Fighters Points as they play, to level up their rank and unlock new copy abilities, stages, characters, hats and more.
The original Kirby Fighters first appeared as a mini-game in 2014’s Nintendo 3DS title Kirby: Triple Deluxe, before being expanded into a standalone Deluxe version available on the eShop.
