Nintendo reveals previously leaked Fire Emblem Engage
The new series instalment will release in January 2023
Nintendo has officially announced Fire Emblem Engage for Nintendo Switch, with a January 20, 2023 release date.
“The turn-based, tactical battle system the Fire Emblem series is known for returns with a fresh cast of characters you can customise and Engage to carefully craft your strategy,” Nintendo said of the new game.
“Summon and fight alongside legendary heroes from past Fire Emblem games, like Marth and Celica, and add their power to yours in this new story.”

Engage’s story synopsis reads: “In a war against the Fell Dragon, four kingdoms worked together with heroes from other worlds to seal away this great evil. One thousand years later, this seal has weakened and the Fell Dragon is about to reawaken.
“As a Divine Dragon, use rich strategies and robust customisation to meet your destiny – to collect Emblem Rings scattered across the world and bring peace back to the Continent of Elyos.”
Nintendo is also planning to release Fire Emblem Engage: Divine Edition featuring the game, a SteelBook, art cards, an A1-sized poster and a softcover artbook called “The Art of Fire Emblem Engage”.
A noted Nintendo insider previously claimed that the new series entry has been “finished for over a year”.
According to Emily Rogers, the game was originally intended to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the series, which was in 2020.
The game is reportedly a “collaboration between Intelligent Systems, Koei Tecmo and Gust (a division of Koei Tecmo Holdings)”, and the graphics are said to be “an improvement over Three Houses”.
