Nintendo reveals best-selling Japanese eShop games in first half of 2019
Mario Maker 2 makes the top five based on three days’ sales
Nintendo of Japan has revealed the best-selling eShop games for the first six months of 2019.
The platform holder posted two separate sales charts for the tracking period (January 1-June 30) on its site: the top 30 downloaded titles that are also available as packaged retail games, and the top 30 download-only titles.
The former was topped by Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, ahead of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Minecraft, while New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe and Super Mario Maker 2 rounded off the top five. Mario Maker 2’s top-five placement is particularly notable given it only launched on June 28.
Together! The Battle Cats topped the download-only chart, ahead of Human Fall Flat, Cuphead, Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution and Stardew Valley.
