Nintendo responds to Switch 2 CES leaks

Nintendo has addressed a series of claims from accessory manufacturer Genki surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2.

Over the last week, a deluge of images and claims have emerged from CES, which took place in Las Vegas. At the center of this is accessory maker Genki. The company reportedly showed what it claimed to be an accurate replica of Nintendo’s next system.

Representatives from the company also claimed to have a final unit of the system, and shared information about the as-yet unannounced system’s release date.

Now, Nintendo has commented on these images to the Japanese publication Sankei. “These images and videos are not official,” a representative for Nintendo told Sankei.

It’s a rare acknowledgment of internet rumours from Nintendo, however the scale of the leaked images and details of the next system may have prompted the company to respond.

Last week, supposed images of Switch 2’s Joy-Cons made their way online. If authentic, they corroborate previous claims that the Switch 2 Joy-Cons will be slightly larger, and feature a magnetic connection.

This week, a reliable tech leaker with a history of posting accurate renders of unreleased tech such as previous Samsung phones and Pixel devices has posted a 360-degree render claiming to show Nintendo’s next console, which it claims is the most accurate look yet at the Switch 2.
