Nintendo Europe resets Switch Online free trial offer
Seven days’ free access available even if you’ve used a trial before
Nintendo of Europe has reset its Switch Online free trial offer.
The promotion lets users access the online service free of charge for one week.
With the offer having been reset, players who’ve tried it before can now do so again.
The promotion was confirmed on Nintendo of Europe’s Twitter account. It’s unclear if it’s also available in the US, but VGC has contacted Nintendo of America to check.
Nintendo Switch Online launched in September 2018 and is required to play most Switch games online (Fortnite is a notable exclusion).
Members can also access a growing library of classic SNES and NES games, back up save data online, and receive special offers including free access to Tetris 99.
Nintendo Switch Online costs £3.49/€3.99/$3.99 for a one-month membership, £6.99/€7.99/$7.99 for a three-month membership, and £17.99/€19.99/$19.99 for a 12-month membership.
Nintendo Switch Online has over 15 million paying members, the platform holder said in January.
It represents a significant portion of the console’s user base – Nintendo also said Switch shipments had exceeded 52 million units, with sell-through (unit sales by retailers to consumers) totalling some 48 million.
Nintendo’s network services suffered unscheduled downtime in March, likely as a result of people spending more time playing games online than usual.
