Nier: Automata is officially coming to Nintendo Switch
It will be released in October and include Switch-exclusive costumes
Nier: Automata The End of Yorha Edition has been announced for Nintendo Switch.
Confirming an earlier leak, the game was officially revealed during a Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase on Tuesday.
Coming with previously released DLC, plus costumes exclusive to the Switch version, it will be released on October 6, 2022.
Nier: Automata The End of Yorha Edition is available to pre-order now, priced at $39.99 / £34.99.
“When machine lifeforms from another world attack without warning, unleashing a new type of threat, mankind is driven from Earth and takes refuge on the Moon,” reads a description of the game accompanying today’s announcement.
“As 2B, a member of the android military force Yorha, immerse yourself in a ferocious battle to take back the planet.”
Developed by PlatinumGames and published by Square Enix, Nier: Automata was originally released for PS4 and PC in 2017, before making its way to Xbox One in 2018.
Nier director Yoko Taro expressed his enthusiasm for bringing the game to Switch during a Square Enix presentation at E3 2018.
The original Nier was released in 2010 and an updated version, officially titled Nier Replicant ver1.22474487139, was released for Xbox One, PS4 and PC last year.
Following its release, a datamine unearthed references to ‘NX’ graphics settings within the game’s code (NX is the development codename for Switch), leading to speculation that the remaster could be planned for Nintendo’s console.
