Nicki Minaj is coming to Call of Duty

Activision has announced that it’s adding Nicki Minaj as an operator to Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare II.

Nicki will join returning Call of Duty veteran Snoop Dog, as well as rapper 21 Savage as part of an in-game celebration of hip-hop to mark the 50th anniversary of the genre.

“As part of Call of Duty celebrating 50 years of Hip Hop, everyone will receive free hip hop War Tracks for logging in between August 7 and August 16,” Activision announced.

“Simply go online in Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty: Warzone on four separate days within that time period – an easy task for those that play daily or even only on weekends – to receive a free gift.”

The event will grant a track from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s, although the tracks themselves have yet to be confirmed. Snoop will be available at the start of the season, while Nicki Minaj and 21 Savage will come at a later date.

Activision also confirmed plans for Season 5 of the game, which will launch next week. Call of Duty Season 5 will bring back classic Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare maps in multiplayer, as well as a host of modes.

Over on Warzone, players can experience a new quest, which is likely to lead to the reveal of the next mainline Call of Duty game, Modern Warfare 3.

The game’s logo, protagonist Captain Price, and what some fans are suggesting looks like series villain Vladimir Makarov appeared on promotional cans of Monster Energy over the weekend, a leak that was later acknowledged by Activision.

Call of Duty 2023 is reportedly a continuation of last year’s Modern Warfare 2, with development being led by Sledgehammer Games.

Activision seemingly confirmed this last week when it said that Modern Warfare 2 operators, weapons and bundles will carry forward into this year’s series entry, which has yet to be officially revealed.

Maps and modes from Modern Warfare 2 will also be carried over to the new title, it has been claimed.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III” was reportedly referenced in DMCA takedown notices Activision sent to Twitter users sharing leaked images of the game online earlier this month.

Activision claimed last week that “development of this year’s full annual premium [Call of Duty] release on PC and console is proceeding well.”
