Next week’s free Epic Games Store title has been announced
Among the Sleep will replace Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse and Paladins Epic Pack
Next week’s free Epic Games Store title has been revealed.
First person horror adventure Among the Sleep – Enhanced Edition will be free to download from October 21-28.
It will replace Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse and Paladins Epic Pack, which normally cost £15.99 and £27.99 respectively, but are currently free to download until October 21.
Epic claimed in January that the Epic Games Store had attracted over 160 million PC users since launching in December 2018.
The company has been giving away free titles on a weekly basis since the marketplace launched, including 103 games in 2020, collectively worth $2,407 based on US prices. Epic said users claimed over 749 million free titles last year.
Google recently countersued Epic Games in the latest twist in the antitrust battle originally brought against the company by the Fortnite maker.
The legal battle began in August 2020 after Epic moved to circumvent platform fees with a new direct payment option in Fortnite, leading to the game’s removal from Google Play and the App Store.
Earlier this week, it was claimed that Epic is considering making a Fortnite film as part of wider conversations about the possibility of launching an entertainment division focused on scripted video programming.
Sources told The Information (paywall) that Epic is exploring new ways to grow its brands at a time when its ambitions in the mobile games space are being restricted by its legal battles with Apple and Google.
