The next free Epic Games Store titles have been announced
Chess Ultra and World of Warships DLC will replace Warhammer 40,000: Gladius – Relics of War
The next free Epic Games Store titles have been confirmed.
Chess Ultra and World of Warships — Starter Pack: Ishizuchi will be free to claim from Epic’s PC marketplace from March 23-30.
They will replace turn-based 4X strategy game Warhammer 40,000: Gladius – Relics of War, which is now free to claim until March 23.
“Chess Ultra injects the greatest strategy game of all time with a modern twist; offering the ultimate chess experience with stunning 4K visuals, Grandmaster-approved AI and full VR compatibility,” according to its Epic Games Store listing.
World of Warships — Starter Pack: Ishizuchi is add-on content for the free-to-play naval battles game World of Warships. It’s currently priced at £16.51 on the Epic Games Store.
The Epic Games Store gave away 99 free titles last year (up from 89 in 2021), Epic said last week.
According to the company, these games had a combined worth of $2,240 (compared to $2,120 the year before), and users claimed over 700 million free titles (down from 765 million in 2021).
Epic recently suggested players should expect to see further high-profile Epic Games Store exclusives announced in the future.
“We’re really honing our strategy based on what we observed worked really well in previous launches, and what didn’t work really well,” Epic CEO Tim Sweeney told PC Gamer.
“A handful of major exclusives really moved the needle … and the smaller games, especially games that had a smaller audience that was typically on Steam, we found that a lot of those players weren’t willing to move over.”
