New PS5 Disc Drive stock is starting to arrive in the UK, with one retailer increasing its price
Currys is selling the £99 add-on for £109
The PS5 Disc Drive has started to see new stock arriving in the UK, though one retailer has decided to raise its price.
The PS5 disc drive is supposed to sell for $79.99 / £99.99, but is currently sold out at virtually every major retailer. As a result, eBay UK sellers are posting Buy It Now listings selling the unit for £150 – £250.
Today, however, the drive has started to re-appear at UK tech retailer Currys, suggesting new stock is starting to arrive in the country.
Currys’ availability has been sporadic throughout the day, but when it’s been in stock customers have noticed the retailer is selling the disc drive for £109 instead of £99.
While not in stock at PlayStation Direct, the listed price is still £99, suggesting the price increase is Currys’ doing, rather than Sony‘s.
When the PS5 disc drive was released in 2023 alongside the slim model of the PS5, the add-on was readily available for those who decided to buy the slim model system.
However, following the announcement that the PlayStation 5 Pro wouldn’t include a drive, nor would there be a SKU of the console that would include one bundled, the price of the add-on increased as stock became difficult to find.
While the disc drive has been hard to find, the PS5 Pro console itself has not, with it being reported that some scalpers are having to sell the console at a loss due to lack of interest.
