New Monster Hunter Rise videos show off Wirebug gameplay in the Switch exclusive
The small creatures can be used to reach tricky locations and to enhance attacks
Capcom used a Tokyo Game Show presentation on Friday to show off new footage of Monster Hunter Rise.
Announced earlier this month, the Nintendo Switch exclusive is set for release on March 26, 2021.
New videos released on Friday (above, and timestamped below) include a focus on one of the game’s key features, small creatures called Wirebugs which lets players explore cliffs and elevated platforms.
“The player carries several of these small bugs around and they allow you to climb to a variety of places that would normally be out of reach,” game director Yasunori Ichinose said earlier this month.
“Additionally, there’s a great variety of actions you can perform by combining the Wirebugs with attacks. Using these unique attacks with your favourite weapon is what the combat is going to be all about.”
Capcom will release three Amiibo alongside Monster Hunter Rise, which will let players unlock special layered armour.
Monster Hunter Rise was announced alongside fellow Switch exclusive Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, “a rich RPG story” scheduled to be released in the summer of 2021. Capcom has said the games will share some unspecified compatibility features.
The publisher also revealed new Resident Evil Village details at TGS on Friday, and said it’s “looking into” the possibility of bringing the game to PS4 and Xbox One.
