IO Interactive says work on the next entry in the Hitman franchise “is well underway”.

In an update on its website, the studio said November’s Hitman 2 update will bring the game’s final major patch as IO begins transitioning more staff from the title to other projects.

Following a “bumper roadmap of content” for November, which is detailed in the video below, the remaining new content drops for the game will arrive in December.

Live content support for Hitman 2 will continue into 2020, however, with the addition of new featured contracts and community-curated ones, plus the reactivation of elusive targets.

“After 13 months of full-time support and content for Hitman 2 – at no additional cost (besides what we added through the Expansion Pass), we’re now at a place where we are looking increasingly to the future,” the studio said.

“In real terms, we’re moving more and more of the Hitman 2 team to join the next Hitman game, which is well underway.”

IO Interactive announced in October it was working on a new console and PC game set to be published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

CEO Hakan Abrak said the company is creating a “new universe” across its Danish studio in Copenhagen and its recently opened Swedish studio in Malmö.

Warner Bros. and IO Interactive previously partnered for the release of several titles including 2018’s Hitman 2 and Hitman: Definitive Edition, and 2019’s Hitman HD Enhanced Collection.
