New Diablo 4 livestream will detail seasons, cosmetics and Battle Pass

Blizzard is preparing to reveal its plans for Diablo 4’s post-launch experience during a livestream next week.

Airing on the official Diablo Twitch and YouTube channels on May 10 at 11am PT / 2pm ET / 7pm BST, the presentation promises to detail how seasons, cosmetics and the game’s optional Battle Pass will work.

It will feature insight from Diablo franchise general manager Rod Fergusson, associate game director Joseph Piepiora, product management director Kegan Clark, and associate director of community Adam Fletcher.

Diablo 4‘s seasons will consist of a Battle Pass that will take around 80 hours to clear, and story content that isn’t at the level of a fully fledged new campaign, it was recently confirmed.

Each season is expected to last for three months and be like those in Diablo 3 in that the player will start again with a new character at level 1.

Players will have to take on objectives over the course of the season to help level up their character, with the ultimate aim being to get them to level 100.

In a recent interview in Game Informer magazine, Piepiora said each season would have story content, something Fergusson subsequently attempted to play down on Twitter.

In a tweet headed “managing expectations”, Fergusson said: “Going to talk about Seasons and Expansions a lot more later but I am seeing some people misinterpreting [the Game Informer] article.

“The story that [Piepiora] refers to in Seasons are new quest lines that help to provide context to new seasonal mechanics – not a new campaign.”

Fergusson then confirmed to a follower that the new quest lines would be available as part of the free path in each season, and wouldn’t require players to buy the Battle Pass to access it.

Blizzard recently announced that Diablo 4 will be getting a final open beta weekend from May 12-14. It will give players access to the Prologue, the entirety of Act I and the first Zone, and will let them build a character up to a Level 20 cap.

Diablo 4 will be released on June 6 on PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5 and PS4. However, players who purchase the Deluxe and Ultimate Editions will be able to play it from June 1 at 4pm PST / 7pm EST (June 2 at 12am BST).
