Netflix’s The Witcher gets final pre-release trailer
Trailer sets the scene ahead of the show’s December 20 launch
Netflix has released a new trailer for The Witcher titled Final Trailer, suggesting it’s the last new footage we’ll see of the show ahead of its debut next week.
The Witcher’s first season, which will consist of eight episodes, launches on December 20.
Netflix describes The Witcher as “an epic tale of fate and family. The story of the intertwined destinies of three individuals in the vast world of The Continent, where humans, elves, witchers, gnomes, and monsters battle to survive and thrive, and where good and evil is not easily identified.”
Earlier this week it released character introduction videos for the key players in the series: monster hunter Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Cholatra) and princess Cirilla (Freya Allan).
Critics and influencers recently shared their first impressions of The Witcher, with those shown early screenings singling out the show’s casting and action scenes for praise.
Also consisting of eight episodes, The Witcher season 2 will begin production in London early in 2020, ahead of a planned debut in 2021.
Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich recently said she’s mapped out stories for seven seasons of the show, which will take the franchise in a different direction to CD Projekt’s game series, which has helped popularise The Witcher with over 40 million sales across three titles.
