Netflix set to hold The Witcher panel at San Diego Comic-Con

Netflix will host a San Diego Comic-Con panel for its live-action series based on The Witcher this month.

That’s according to a report from Deadline, which claims the Witcher panel will take place on Friday, July 19 from 2:15pm PT (10:15pm BST). The full lineup for the panel is yet to be announced.

The live-action Witcher series is described as “an epic tale of fate and family.” The show is set to star Henry Cavill as protagonist Geralt of Rivia.

The cast also includes Freya Allan (The War of the Worlds) as Ciri, Anya Chalotra (The ABC Murders) as Yennefer, Jodhi May (Game of Thrones) as Calanthe, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson (Fortitude) as Eist, Adam Levy (Knightfall) as Mousesack, MyAnna Buring (Ripper Street) as Tissaia, Mimi Ndiweni (Black Earth Rising) as Fringilla, Therica Wilson-Read (Profile) as Sabrina, and Millie Brady (The Last Kingdom) as Renfri.

Lauren Schmidt Hissrich (Marvel’s Daredevil, The Umbrella Academy) is writer, executive producer and showrunner for the series.

Netflix plans to launch the The Witcher series in the fourth quarter of 2019. The first season of the series will consist of eight one-hour episodes, with the first due to air between October and December.

On Monday, Netflix released a selection of The Witcher Netflix images, showing Henry Cavill as Geralt.

Earlier this month, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition was confirmed for release on Switch in 2019, marking the first time the series will be made available on a Nintendo platform.

CD Projekt Red‘s Alvin Liu subsequently told VGC the studio is “proud” of The Witcher 3’s upcoming Switch port and that its “biggest changes” involve user interface and controls.
