Netflix plans to launch the The Witcher series in the fourth quarter of 2019.
The first season of the series will consist of eight one-hour episodes, with the first due to air between October and December.
According to game publisher CD Projekt, the Witcher games have sold more than 40 million copies across three releases since launching in 2007.
It says the most recent series entry, the critically acclaimed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, accounts for more than 20 million sales.
Wild Hunt originally released on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2015. Earlier this month, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition was confirmed for release on Switch in 2019, marking the first time the series will be made available on a Nintendo platform.
CD Projekt Red‘s Alvin Liu subsequently told VGC the studio is “proud” of The Witcher 3’s upcoming Switch port and that its “biggest changes” involve user interface and controls.
A fourth Witcher game has yet to be confirmed, with CD Projekt Red focused primarily on the production of upcoming sci-fi RPG Cyberpunk 2077.
