Need for Speed Heat takes players to open world Palm City

25th anniversary series entry launching in November

EA has announced Need for Speed Heat for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

The newest instalment in the racing series is developed by Ghost Games and set for release on November 8, 2019, although EA Access and Origin Access members will get to play the title from November 5.

Billed as the “ultimate street racer versus cop fantasy”, it promises to deliver “expressive customization, authentic urban car culture, and an immersive narrative” in an open world setting called Palm City.

EA says: “By day, players compete in the Speedhunters Showdown, a sanctioned competition where they earn Bank to customize and upgrade their garage of high-performance cars.

“At night, players risk it all to build their Rep in underground races where a rogue police task force roams the streets, ready to take racers down and swipe all their earnings.

“The roads, the risks, and the rides never end in this street racer where a player can roll deep with their crew, build their garage full of hot cars, and make the city their nonstop playground.”

The worldwide Need for Speed Heat gameplay reveal will take place during Gamescom: Opening Night Live on Monday August 19.

The Need for Speed series debuted 25 years ago this month in August 1994.

EA expects Need for Speed Heat to ship four million units in the current fiscal year ending in March 2020.
