MultiVersus’ Halloween event: Non-payers must play 780+ games in 30 days to unlock everything

Players who buy a premium skin will still need to play over 390 games

MultiVersus’ Halloween event: Non-payers must play 780+ games in 30 days to unlock everything

A new Halloween event coming to MultiVersus will require a heavy time commitment from players who want to unlock all four items being made available.

The event, which runs from October 15 to November 15, rewards players with candy for playing Singles, Teams and Free-for-All matches, with double candy awarded if they win.

These can then be spent in a limited time Candy Shop to earn players two new skins – a mummy costume for Reindog and a Calico Cake skin for Jake – as well as an emote and a profile icon.

The amount of candy earned is increased if players use Combat Stripe (which costs $8 in Gleamium, the game’s premium currency), Combat Gizmo ($5)  or one of the new Halloween variants available (between $8 and $20).

The total amount of candy earned per game is as follows:

The four unlockables are as follows:

  • Pumpkin Patch Profile Icon – 150 Candy
  • Jack-O-Lantern Emote Sticker – 500 Candy
  • Mummy Reindog Epic Variant – 3,000 Candy
  • Calico Cake Epic Variant – 12,000 Candy

VGC calculates that if players choose not to buy a premium skin, they will have to play a minimum of 783 games within the next 30 days to earn enough candy to unlock all four items – an average of around 26 games a day.

This is assuming they win every game they play and earn the full amount of candy each time. Since it’s extremely unlikely that a player will win 783 games in a row, it’s almost certain that most players will have to play more than 800 games to unlock everything.

If a player does decide to purchase one of the premium skins valid for the event and earn more candy for a win, they’d still need to play a minimum of 392 games (again, assuming they win them all).

The fastest way to earn candy is to buy a premium skin, find another player who bought one, then partner with them and win Teams games with them. This would still require both players to play a minimum of 261 games (around nine games a day).

Players with extra candy at the end of the event can exchange 500 candy for 10 gold. New characters cost between 1500 and 3000 gold.

MultiVersus’ Halloween event is part of its latest version 1.04 patch, which also adds Stripe from Gremlins as the game’s 21st playable character.

The fighting game entered open beta in July, and according to its publisher Warner Bros. Games surpassed 20 million players in around a month.
