Mortal Kombat 11 is getting a next-gen version with a free upgrade path, plus new fighters including Rambo

Mileena and Rain are also new playable characters in Kombat Pack 2

Warner Bros. Games has announced Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, the “definitive” version of the fighting game coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, PC and Stadia on November 17.

It will include the previously released base game, Kombat Pack 1 featuring six playable characters (Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, Sindel, The Joker, Terminator T-800, Spawn), the Aftermath story expansion featuring three playable characters (Fujin, Sheeva, RoboCop), and the newly announced Kombat Pack 2.

The latest character pack will add playable fighters Mileena, the hybrid Edenian and Tarkatan clone of Kitana, royal Edenian demigod Rain, and Rambo featuring the voice and likeness of actor Sylvester Stallone.

The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate will offer 4K resolution, enhanced visuals, and improved loading times. PS4 owners will be able to upgrade to the next-gen version free of charge, as will Xbox owners with the game set to support Smart Delivery.

The title will also support cross-generation console compatibility, enabling PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One players to fight against each other in select modes.

Mortal Kombat 11 released in April 2019 and was the fifth best-selling game in the US last year.

VGC’s Mortal Kombat 11 review said the title’s “close to being the best all-round fighting game package but falls just short due to an aggressive need for currency grinding to unlock content.”

Warner Bros. also plans to release a new Mortal Kombat live action movie.
