Mortal Kombat 1 Switch update finally arrives, promising improvements and fixes

The Nintendo Switch version of Mortal Kombat 1 has finally received its first post-launch update, which promises various improvements and fixes for the game.

While NetherRealm developed the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Mortal Kombat 1, the PC and Nintendo Switch versions have been handled by QLOC and Shiver Entertainment / Saber Interactive respectively.

The latter has come in for some stinging criticism from reviewers, with IGN calling it “a poor quality port of a great game that’s all around aggravating to play”, and Nintendo Life advising players who can play the game on other platforms to “stay away from this one for now”.

Series creator Ed Boon recently admitted the state of the Switch version wasn’t ideal and promised it would be fixed, so fans who had been growing impatient waiting for the game’s first post-launch update should welcome its release.

In addition to various fixes and improvements, which aren’t specified in the patch notes (see below), the update also includes Season 1 of Invasions mode, which was missing on the Switch version at launch.

VGC’s Mortal Kombat 1 review described the Invasion feature as “an impressively in-depth single-player adventure, which is explored through an almost tabletop board game-style perspective”.
