A player was able to access Battlefield 2042 early
More Battlefield 2042 details have seemingly emerged after a player was able to gain access to the game ahead of its official release.
Over the weekend, Reddit user Aaronfrogger claimed they managed to access the full game ahead of schedule due to an error that saw their Xbox pre-load unlock early.
They posted several Battlefield 2042 gameplay videos as evidence, in which they can be seen playing against bots as the multiplayer-only game’s servers are yet to be populated.
Aaronfrogger also leaked a handful of Battlefield 2042 images. Notably, one appears to show that Battlefield 2042’s All Out Warfare mode will launch with 22 weapons – three secondary, four SMGs, four assault rifles, two LMGs, three marksman rifles, three snipers and three utility guns.
While it’s unclear if the game will be updated with additional weapons in time for launch, the image showing the limited weapon selection has stirred heated debate on Reddit, in a post which has attracted almost 2,000 comments, many criticising the weapon count.
Another leaked Battlefield 2042 image showing the weapon customisation menu confirms players will be able to choose their gun’s sights, ammunition, underbarrel attachment and barrel attachment.
The game’s new Portal mode, which lets players design their own match experiences by mixing maps and elements from past series entries with Battlefield 2042, will include over 75 weapons, developer DICE has said.
Publisher EA recently delayed Battlefield 2042’s release date from October 22 to November 19. However, players who pre-order the Battlefield 2042 Gold and Ultimate editions will receive access to the full game one week ahead of its general release.
EA Play and Xbox Game Pass members will also receive access to a 10-hour Battlefield 2042 trial beginning on November 12.
