Monster Hunter World ships 13 million copies
Title is Capcom’s best-selling individual game of all time
Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter World shipments have now reached 13 million units worldwide.
The publisher revealed the updated shipment figure in a post on the game’s official Twitter account.
As of March 2019 the Monster Hunter franchise had sold 54 million units, driven by the success of Monster Hunter World, which is Capcom’s best-selling individual game of all time.
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, a major expansion for the hit action role-playing title, is Capcom’s only major release planned in the current business year ending in March 2020.
The $40 add-on requires the base Monster Hunter World game to play and will release on September 6, 2019 for PS4 and Xbox One. A PC release will follow in winter 2019.
Ryozo Tsujimoto, head of the Capcom’s consumer games development division 2 and producer of the Monster Hunter series since 2007, has told VGC the publisher is “not giving up” on the idea of creating new original game series, despite its recent focus on core franchises like Resident Evil, Street Fighter and Monster Hunter.
