Monster Hunter Wilds review: What do you want to know?

Update

VGC’s Monster Hunter Wilds review is now live and ready for reading!

VGC’s Monster Hunter Wilds review will be going live very soon, and our reviewer is ready to answer your burning questions about Capcom’s big sequel.

Monster Hunter Wilds is the spiritual follow-up to Monster Hunter Worlds, Capcom’s most successful game of all time. It will be released on February 28, 2025, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

The game builds on its predecessor with bigger, more freeform open worlds, a full day and night cycle, and a dynamic weather system. Combat is similar to Worlds, but expanded in virtually every way, with new weapons, new traps, and new environmental hazards that you can use against your prey.

“We couldn’t help but chuckle at the realization that Capcom had done it again,” VGC said of the game after a recent preview. “It’s stupid to bet against it now, but even the best developers have a blip. Monster Hunter Wilds certainly isn’t that. We asked about the feeling within Capcom as the company enjoys this unprecedented success.

“It’s difficult to argue. There is arguably no developer today that has so many of its franchises at their absolute apex. Resident Evil is firing on all cylinders, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a Game of the Year contender, and from what we’ve seen, Monster Hunter Wilds will be no exception.”

Despite still not being officially released, Wilds has already beaten its predecessor’s all-time peak player count on Steam during a recent three-day beta.
