Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak has been dated for PlayStation and Xbox

Capcom has dated Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak for PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

During Thursday’s Capcom Spotlight digital event, the publisher confirmed that the Monster Hunter Rise expansion will be released for Sony and Microsoft systems on April 28, 2023.

In addition, Capcom said it will hold a digital event in April to reveal the next free content coming to the series.

To play the expansion, users are required to own the base Monster Hunter Rise game, which was released for PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S in January.

Monster Hunter Rise was originally released for Nintendo Switch in March 2021 before making its way to PC in January 2022.

It is already Capcom’s second-highest selling game of all time, having sold 11.7 million copies as of December 2022. It trails only Monster Hunter World, which was released in 2018 and has sold 18.6 million units.

Capcom said in January that the Sunbreak expansion for Monster Hunter Rise had sold five million copies across Switch and PC.

“The original Monster Hunter Rise is an absolutely fantastic game, so for this expansion to be just more would have been fine, but Sunbreak feels like it earns its price tag and then some,” we wrote in our Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak review.
