Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak clears 5 million units
The base game releases for Xbox and PS5 this week
Capcom has announced that the Sunbreak expansion for Monster Hunter Rise has now sold 5 million units worldwide across Nintendo Switch and PC.
Sunbreak was released on June 30, 2022 and in less than a week cleared the 2 million sales milestone, according to Capcom.
In order to play the expansion, users are required to own the base Monster Hunter Rise game, which was released for Switch in March 2021 and for PC in January 2022.
As of last August, Monster Hunter Rise game had cleared 11 million units, the company said, which means that as much as 45% of players have now purchased the DLC.
The company is looking to accrue further sales with Xbox and PS5 ports this week, which will be followed by Sunbreak sometime in Spring.
Additionally, Capcom said on Wednesday that sales of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, the premium expansion for Monster Hunter: World released in September 2019, have now surpassed 10 million units worldwide.
Capcom claims that the Monster Hunter series has now sold a total of 88 million units, as of September 30, 2022, with Monster Hunter World (21 million) easily holding the record for best-selling Capcom game of all time.
