Monster Hunter Rise is getting free Sonic themed DLC
Sonic and Tails themed armour sets are coming later in November
Monster Hunter Rise‘s next DLC collaboration will be a set of Sonic the Hedgehog themed outfits.
The free update, which launches on November 26, features two new Special Event quests, which can earn players new Sonic unlockables.
These include Sonic themed clothing for the main Hunter character, as well as a Tails outfit for the player’s Palamute.
It also includes a Sonic costume for the player’s Palico, which lets them perform Sonic’s spin attack.
The Sonic event will mark the first Monster Hunter Rise collaboration that doesn’t feature a Capcom property.
The game has already enjoyed five Capcom-themed crossovers as part of its Capcom Collab series, the last of which was a Ghosts n Goblins Resurrection tie-in which let players unlock Arthur’s armour.
Before that, there was a Mega Man event in September which let players dress up their Palamute as Mega Man’s robotic dog Rush. Meanwhile, in August, players were given Hunter layered armour that made them look like Akuma from the Street Fighter series.
The month before this, the game added Okami’s Amaterasu as a new skin for players’ Palamute, which makes it look like the wolf god.
The first ‘Capcom Collab’ event planned for Monster Hunter Rise was made available on June 18 and let players unlock materials that could be used to dress up their Palico like the Tsukino character from Monster Hunter Stories 2.
Monster Hunter Rise hit stores on March 26 alongside a special edition Monster Hunter Rise Switch console and three Amiibo that let players unlock new armour sets. A PC version is due for release on January 12, 2022.
Capcom claimed in October that the game has shipped over 7.5 million units worldwide, and also announced Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, a “massive expansion” due for release in the summer of 2022 which will include new stories, locales and monsters, as well as fresh hunting actions and quest rank.
