Modern Warfare developer Infinity Ward has opened a new studio
A sequel to 2019’s Modern Warfare is expected to be released next year
Call of Duty series creator and Modern Warfare developer Infinity Ward has opened a new office in Austin, Texas.
The new development team joins the studio’s existing ones in Poland, Mexico, and its California headquarters.
“Infinity Ward is expanding,” the studio tweeted. “Excited to announce the creation of @InfinityWard Austin.”
The company, which was founded in 2002, is currently “hiring for all positions” as work continues on its next, yet to be announced project.
The studio’s last game was 2019’s Call of Duty Modern Warfare.
Next Year’s premium Call of Duty game will reportedly be a sequel to Modern Warfare. According to people with knowledge of Activision’s plans, Modern Warfare 2 will include a campaign involving US special forces fighting a covert war against Columbian drug cartels.
Modern Warfare’s design director Jacob Minkoff and narrative director Taylor Kurosaki left Infinity Ward earlier this year.
The pair, both of whom joined the studio in 2014, left to help establish a new independent studio called That’s No Moon.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season 6 launched earlier this week, introducing a variety of new content and weapon tuning.
The next entry in the blockbuster shooter series, the Sledgehammer Games-led Call of Duty: Vanguard, will be released for consoles and PC on November 5, 2021.
Publisher Activision recently confirmed that all of its core studios are now working on the Call of Duty franchise.
