Modern Warfare adds classic maps and Cranked mode
New Spec Ops experiences also included in latest free content update
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will introduce new maps, a fresh game mode and new Spec Ops experiences as part of a Season 1 content update on Wednesday.
The free update, available on all platforms later today, will include updated versions Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare multiplayer maps Shipment and Vacant.
Both will be available in 6v6 multiplayer map rotation, while Shipment will also be playable in Gunfight mode, which is set to introduce 1v1 and 3v3 matches “at some point”, according to Infinity Ward multiplayer co-design director Joe Cecot.
The Gunfight map Docks will also be getting a holiday-themed re-skin.
The update will add a new multiplayer mode called Cranked, “a fast-paced, high octane Deathmatch where players race against the clock to get kills or suffer an explosive fate”.
New Special Ops content will include Operation Strongbox, Classic Special Ops Disinform, and Classic Special Ops Bomb Squad.
Update: The update is now available and you can read the patch notes here.
Original story continues: Double weapon XP will be live from December 20 at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm UK until December 23 at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm UK.
Activision launched Modern Warfare Season 1 alongside the game’s first Battle Pass on December 3.
The Modern Warfare Battle Pass features 100 tiers of content to earn and equip, 23 of which are free to all players.
