Modern Warfare 2’s delayed competitive multiplayer playlist is now live

Treyarch has launched Modern Warfare 2’s delayed competitive multiplayer playlist, CDL Moshpit.

Acting as a dry run for Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Play, which itself won’t arrive until 2023, CDL Moshpit was originally planned to launch on November 16 as part of the game’s first season of live content.

Its release was pushed back by a couple of weeks following the discovery of unspecified issues with the mode, which Treyarch said it was addressing as its “top priority”.

While it’s now live, the studio said players will notice that before selecting ‘Start, Find Match’ their regular multiplayer loadouts are displayed instead of the CDL Private Match loadouts. It’s working on a fix for this which will be included in a future update.

The CDL Moshpit playlist uses the Call of Duty League’s standard rules, restrictions, and map rotation across all three of its official game modes: Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, and Control.

It acts as a bridge between the regular multiplayer game and Ranked Play, which will deliver competitive modes, ranked skill divisions, visible skill ratings, a top 250 leaderboard, and rewards for top players when it launches in 2023.

Modern Warfare 2 is the fastest-selling entry in the long-running series, according to publisher Activision. It topped $1 billion in sales in 10 days, beating the record previously held by 2012’s Black Ops 2, which took 15 days to reach the milestone.
