Modern Warfare 2 will be adding Ranked Play in 2023
But Black Ops Cold War League Play and Vanguard Ranked Play are ending this month
Treyarch has confirmed that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2’s Ranked Play will launch in 2023.
The developer said it’s working to deliver competitive modes, ranked skill divisions, visible skill ratings, a top 250 leaderboard, and competitive rewards with Ranked Play.
Before its launch, players will be able to participate in the CDL Moshpit playlist which will arrive with Modern Warfare 2’s Season 1 update on November 16.
Treyarch also confirmed plans to retire Black Ops Cold War League Play and Vanguard Ranked Play this month. It said players have until November 22 to collect any remaining rewards.
“The success of these modes has directly contributed to the future of Ranked Play,” it said. “We sincerely thank you for all the data, feedback, and time played that was collected over the past two years. We look forward to sharing more soon!”
Launching alongside Modern Warfare 2’s first season of live content on November 16 is the free-to-play Warzone 2.0.
Three-player Raids for Modern Warfare 2’s Special Ops mode will then arrive in December.
Modern Warfare 2 has enjoyed the most lucrative launch in the history of the long-running franchise, according to publisher Activision.
It claimed on Monday that the game topped $800 million in sales in its first three days of availability. In doing so, it surpassed the previous five-day franchise sales record, set in 2011 by Modern Warfare 3.
