The Modern Warfare 2 open beta won’t launch until mid-September, it’s claimed
PlayStation players will receive early access to the upcoming multiplayer test
The Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 open beta release date has reportedly been set for mid-September.
That’s according to Ralph Valve, an insider who’s accurately leaked information about Activision’s upcoming game in the past.
The publisher recently confirmed that all Modern Warfare 2 pre-orders come with early access to the game’s beta, which will be available on PlayStation consoles at least five days earlier than any other platform.
In a report for What If Gaming, Ralph Valve claims PS4 and PS5 players who pre-order the game will receive early access to the beta from September 15-16, before it’s opened up to all PlayStation users from September 17-19.
A cross-play test for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC will then be available to pre-order customers from September 22-23, before being made available to all players from September 24-26.
Based on pre-order information previously provided by Amazon, it was thought that the Modern Warfare 2 beta could launch on August 15.
However, the latest claims suggest players won’t get a chance to test the game until much closer to its release.
Activision has confirmed a Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 release date of October 28, 2022.
The first Modern Warfare 2 gameplay was released in June, with an eight-minute video showing off a playthrough of a level called Dark Water. It sees Task Force 141 infiltrating an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico in a bid to stop a missile launch that could spark a global conflict.
