Mobile game Mortal Kombat: Onslaught is now available
NetherRealm bills the title as “a strategic team-based collection RPG”
Warner Bros. Games has released Mortal Kombat: Onslaught for mobile devices.
Announced last October to coincide with the franchise’s 30th anniversary, the free to download game is available on the App Store for iOS and Google Play for Android.
Developed by NetherRealm Studios, Onslaught is “a strategic team-based collection RPG”, according to chief creative officer and series co-creator Ed Boon.
It features a story centred on fallen Elder God Shinnok, who’s seeking to regain his power by collecting relics from across the realms. Players are tasked with coming to Raiden’s aid and building a team of fighters to foil Shinnok’s plans.
“In Mortal Kombat: Onslaught, players will be able to unleash total mayhem in strategic, fast-paced battles with up to ten characters at once,” said Boon.
“Mortal Kombat: Onslaught introduces a new level of strategic gameplay and we’re excited to see how players build their teams to overcome various opponents and challenges.”
Series reboot Mortal Kombat 1 was released for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC last month.
“Mortal Kombat 1 is the best Mortal Kombat game to date,” according to VGC’s review, which awarded it 5/5 stars.
“It looks stunning, has a brilliant Story mode, its new Invasions mode will keep solo players busy and, above all else, it’s an absolute joy to play. Thoroughly essential for die-hards, lapsed fans and newkomers.”
