Minecraft gets Star Wars DLC based on the original movie trilogy and The Mandalorian
Including a map, skin pack, bespoke texture set, mobs and items reskins
Microsoft has launched Star Wars DLC for Minecraft based on the original movie trilogy and The Mandalorian.
Priced at 1,340 Minecoins (£6.69) on the Minecraft Marketplace, it includes a map, a skin pack, a bespoke texture set, mobs and items reskins, and the official soundtrack.
The DLC features content from A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi and The Mandalorian, spread across 12 different planet dioramas.
Mojang studio head Helen Chiang said in May that Minecraft had sold more than 200 million copies and that 126 million people were playing the game every month.
Rather than developing a full-blown Minecraft sequel, Microsoft has said its primary concern is keeping the existing community happy with updates to the original game, while expanding the franchise with spin-offs such as Minecraft Earth and Minecraft Dungeons.
Action adventure game Minecraft Dungeons released in May 2020 and is scheduled to add cross-play support for consoles and PC on November 17.
Electronic Arts released Mandalorian-inspired Star Wars Squadrons DLC on October 28, ahead of the premiere of the show’s second season on Disney+.
